Has Anton had enough?  In July 2008, for the first time in Prosper history (since November 2005 in this case), Anton did not bid...
http://www.lendingstats.com/lenders/anton  (His portfolio, of course, is performing better than most.)

Even RateLadder sems to be slowing down, with no bids in July...

Islandmele did not originate any new loans in July...for the first time ever since she started in July 2006.

Say it ain't so, PrivateLender...

Nonattender not bothering to put his money where his mouth is...

And, finally, in observance of Karma-Day on Prosper...

Yes, I am aware that Anton has placed $100(!) in August.  My comment above notes that I was referring to July 2008 - the first and only month on record where Anton did not add a loan to his portfolio.

Obviously Larsen needs to read my blog: From Prosper's inception through the end of 2007, high-rate A loans (just like their AA counterparts) have performed terribly -- out of 45 A loans ranging from 19%-29%, 13 of them (29%) are 1-month late or worse (11 are 2-months late or worse).

I read your blog; do you think part of the AA-A defaulting is because of the effective nullification of Prosper's ID Theft guarantee?  Are these high interest rates going bad after 4-5 months or after 0-1 months?

From the Q/A -

I really need this loan to fund at 17% or better to be competitive with other financing options that I have. I am a lender on Prosper, and strongly believe in the P2P concept, however I need a competitive rate here to be fiscally responsible. I thought I would give it another try in order to beat the 23% rate that prior loan funded at. I listed my first loan the same way with a high starting rate and it was bid down to 13.9%,

Will it happen in 22 hours?  On a Tuesday?  I would think not, but stranger things have happened.  It would be interesting to see if he cancels the loan AGAIN if it ends above his target...

Thank you!  Grin

I don't think so, because the loans I looked at for this analysis were originated from Prosper's inception through 12/31/07.  For most of that time period, Prosper was repurchasing loans (although probably not enough).  Prosper's apparent abandonment of its "100% ID-theft guarantee" didn't seem to effect loans originated before August 2007, so only around 5 months of the 2-year or so time period I examined would have been effected.

I don't know, but will take a look at that.
