Right.  But she seemed a big fan of P2P lending in general (Prosper employment or no).  Either that was a facade,  or she's soured on the marketplace in general, or expenses for the new baby leave nothing for Prosper bids.

I'm guessing all of the above.  Well, mostly the facade thing.

fwiw, anton just put $100 on this A-$25K-35% listing.

Obviously Larsen needs to read my blog: From Prosper's inception through the end of 2007, high-rate A loans (just like their AA counterparts) have performed terribly -- out of 45 A loans ranging from 19%-29%, 13 of them (29%) are 1-month late or worse (11 are 2-months late or worse).

PIF 9 months later (May '09).

I almost can't believe they're both in the black.  I know some of the factors which helped this along, but still surprising to me (someone who came along a bit late in the game).

The both avoided D & worse credit scores.  One stuck with AA-B.

Chris Larsen's wife, who is sometimes cited as one of the sources of inspiration for Prosper, hasn't bid on anything for a while.

Her ROI is better than most.

I'd still bet friends and family loans are the factor.

Yep - just look at the dates, but also note that she dodged a pretty major hit on her "what if" list.

Time for an update to see how things are going (and also since some of the LendingStats links now appear to be broken).

ANTON
Back to bidding and leading by example.  225 of his loans have defaulted.
http://www.ericscc.com/lenders/anton

JWITCHEL
No longer participating - and barely breaking even
http://www.ericscc.com/lenders/jwitchel

RATELADDER
No longer participating.  Negative ROI.
http://www.ericscc.com/lenders/RateLadder_com

NBNLB100
No longer participating.  Negative ROI.
http://www.ericscc.com/lenders/nbnlb100

THEKURSE
Talks a big game online, but no longer personally participating. Negative ROI.
http://www.ericscc.com/lenders/TheKurse

ISLANDMELE
She has one P3.0 loan, but has otherwise stopped.  Negative ROI.
http://www.ericscc.com/lenders/islandmele

PRIVATELENDER
No longer participating.  Negative ROI
http://www.ericscc.com/lenders/PrivateLender

NONATTENDER
No longer participating, despite a relatively excellent ROI.
http://www.ericscc.com/lenders/nonattender

BMAY2
A rotten, negative ROI.  Did she lend to members of her own family?  Well, actually...  Good thing she had RVE to help offset her losses.
http://www.ericscc.com/lenders/bmay2

AMF
No longer participating.  Breaking even - or a slightly negative ROI.
http://www.ericscc.com/lenders/amf

LAMSABUY
No longer participating, despite a very respectable ROI.
http://www.ericscc.com/lenders/lamsabuy

IOWA
No longer participating.  Breaking even.

As for the signal value of my current non-participation (and for the lack of momentum with P2P volumes,
in general), I wouldn't read too much into it.  I'm in one of the MANY (30+) states where lending via P2P
platforms has not been "reapproved", after the SEC stepped in to exert authority over the p2p models...

Incidentally my actual ROI is higher than that shows - also, there's a dip in ROI around halfway through,
or, more precisely, that's observed around halfway through (assuming less than full reinvestment) which
is something I think a lot of people fail to take into account when trying to measure their ROI, over time.
I glance, very occasionally, at the EricsCC estimate of my return, and many months ago it showed ~1%,
but there are a ton of assumptions built into that ROI calculation, as well, which is why I don't rely on it.

Also of note is that, despite a "relatively" high percentage of my loans defaulting, what matters MOST is
WHEN they default.  You guys toss around all these silly numbers about X% of loans have defaulted, but
that's an incredibly dopey (in its ability to mislead) metric to look at, given that every payment is money.

I know *you* know all of this, Urbi - but for the folks playing along at home, I thought it'd be revelatory.
