Ah, the joys of living in a small town. Yeah, the paper only comes out once a week but you can be DAMNED sure if there's so much as a typo, someone's going to write a letter to the editor within minutes Wink (and they print ALL letters to the editor - it's fun to watch people fight back and forth just writing letters to the editor.........).

and that may get edited before it makes its way to daylight, and at each handoff there are possibilities for misunderstanding.

Good point.  I have had several reporters mention to me how badly the editors hatchet their stories.  Significant details are chopped out to make space.
