Considering today is February 1, it didn't make sense to me to search beyond today's date.  Once I broaden the search, the result is the same...that Prosper only originated 2 loans today.

After you "broaden" it, look again at the date range.
The Feb 28 reverts back to Feb 1.
I don't think the system takes anything beyond the current date...?

That's a lot of loans to push through on the last work-day of the month...and it still resulted in a significant drop in monthly originations.

Then again, I don't think anyone is suprised at this point to see Prosper attempt to stuff the pipe whenever they get close to the ed of the month.

WTF? 20% of January loan originations in the last day of the month?

I suspect this is another area due for some historical analysis.

I'd be willing to bet that loans originating on the last work day of each month are performing worse than the other days

I pulled daily originations for Prosper 3.0 (date, # of loans, total daily amount)

There is certainly some interesting groupings late in several months, followed by some interesting early groupings.

It would seem difficult for anyone to argue that there are no unusual patterns of loan origination.

Date   # of Loans   Amt Originated
7/20   1   $3,500
7/22   3   $8,000

Nominating to The Lobby. Again.

Ask, and you will receive.

Well I won't be putting up a listing for another 57 days, that's for sure! Smiley

The credit card companies are openly admitting that overall borrowing demand is down---I'm sure the Prosper Blog will just repeat whatever chaff they read in the finance blogosphere and attach their woes to that.

Prosper however does not mimic the consumer borrowing market.   The anonymity of Prosper attracts scammers which are plentiful no matter what the economic conditions are.

If Prosper wanted to say "good borrowers left, while the crap ones mostly remain"   then I would have no objections to that statement.

Once again, looks like February originations are following the trend of lagging the previous month.

Total net charge-offs now approaching $43 million - with another $2+ million getting ready to circle the drain.
