Whoa - can we back up...?

Are you (plural) saying the guy was incompetent throughout his career?
Or was he competent up to the time he joined Prosper, and then suddenly forgot his career skills?

I don't know.  He may be "all hat no cattle."  Or maybe Prosper higher-ups stymied his every move.  But in that case, he should have resigned.  Staying on for a year and a half while accomplishing basically nothing (actually less than nothing, based on my examples above) suggests a lack of competence or a lack of integrity, IMHO.

As much as we joke about Prosper_Rip, I am beginning to think he may be a person of considerable integrity.

Prosper_Rip, to the best of my knowledge, was the first Prosper employee to post a "big hat" introduductory message on the original Prosper forum, only to never be heard from again.

I don't even remember that.  Will dig through prosperreport later and post it, though.

Those comments seem fair.  But that's different than flatly saying he's incompetent, IMHO.

If yes to either of the above, then "based on what?"

Meanwhile, to directly answer ira01's "based on what?", I accept his initial Q&A (where he discusses his record) at face value and therefore accept him as a competent.  I heartily agree that his effectiveness at Prosper has been dismal.  I know that sounds like a contradiction.  But keeping in mind how Prosper was executing prior to DoFu's arrival, it seems to me not unreasonable to think that he lacks the executive support needed to make him effective.  For example, I suspect letting the NAT project die by negligence wasn't a decision he made.  Or at least he was forced to forego things when he never got the staff, for example, needed to fulfill what was promised.

What exactly do you base your assumptions on? ...

Hey - no fair posing questions to me without answering mine.

I don't think it's a question of sides for me. I think it's a question of how to get my money back from these crooks! :P

So far 19.51% of my loans have been charged off.  And another 12.19% have stopped paying and are moving toward the precipice of charge off. This sets my pace at 31.70% defaults in my 1st year. I will not be lending on Prosper again.
