"Prosper LIES and Portfolios DIED" ... just remember that phrase before putting one penny into them.

They lied about returns
They lied about defaults
They lied about income-verification
They lied about collections

The only lie they didn't tell was the fees they charge upon generating the loan and their cut after each payment.

I see Prosper is still making bogus comparisons on its home page between potential Prosper returns and stock market returns.   :ninja:

what Prosper returns ?   they should have taken a one month tranche from 2 years ago for comps, it probably would not compare all that favorably so it was simply omitted...

Looks too shady and scammy for me now...

In fact, if it looked like it does now 3 years ago, I would have run for the hills and never gotten involved.  I was somehow reassured by the bumbling presence it had when it started up.

I can see the lenders are gonna jump on the >9k loans under 100% loan value.

prosper 2.0 = lipstick on a pig

unless I missed something about how they improved collections or how they're following through with borrower lawsuits

When this thread was started, I picked maybe, but was leaning yes. My maybe is still the same, but it is leaning towards the side of no. It is now a very thin maybe.

prosper has some very talented people with great ideas but I dont think they take their lenders serious enough.

Talented maybe. So was Al Capone. And Bernie Madoff.  etc.

These guys have approximately the identical code of ethics.  And I think they are a really piss-poor advertisement for Stanford.  (And Virginia, or wherever "dr." Fuller is from.)

It's long been my stated view that Andrew was Prosper's most competent and ethical employee (and maybe the only one).  Unfortunately, there's no evidence that Prosper higher-ups care what he says or promises.  Don't forget, we're all still waiting for Prosper to make good on Andrew's March 2007 promise to "find a way" to use late blenders' loan portfolios to repay their own late loans.
