CPS is a publicly traded company, so there ought to be information on it somewhere...

Consumer Portfolio Services (CPS) is an independent specialty finance company that provides indirect automobile financing to individuals with past credit problems, low incomes or limited credit histories. We purchase retail installment sales contracts primarily from franchised automobile dealerships secured by late model used vehicles and, to a lesser extent, new vehicles. We fund these contract purchases on a long-term basis primarily through the securitization markets and service the contracts over their lives. Our headquarters are located in Irvine, California and we have three additional strategically located servicing branches in Virginia, Florida and Illinois.

Actually I meant if there was a description of CPS somewhere on Prosper.com. A cursory look-see did not reveal anything. I'd expect that prosper.com would either have a short description or a link to the entity's homepage?

As for "Why is CPS listed exclusively..." I assume it's because they're the only sellers registered at Prosper (so far).  If there were others, I should think we'd see them in the "Loan seller" pull-down list in the search box at http://www.prosper.com/invest/ .

Why is CPS listed exclusively

Looks like CPS is the early adopter and Prosper CA decided one partner was enough to initially validate their Open concept and re-enter the market.

There is probably some tradeoff that said "now" is the right time that will remain opaque to us between #of partners at launch, downtime with no new customers vs. burn rate, investor pressure,  the PR opportunity of the http://www.finovate.com/ conference and other factors I've missed.
