And then there's the question of how the family of the dead woman might feel about her image being used to "sell" a Prosper listing.

If Prosper doesn't care why should the family care.  If you really want to know, just ask them.

Or at least contact the family & tell them their grandmother is a live & well, you just saw her on prosper!

The pic is gone now, so they must have a cared a little.

Regardless, the question was asked, an explanation was given and Prosper took down the image - which is interesting, since they say they don't verify anything.

Wonder how many other listings use non-representative pics.

Kudos to the OP for catching the suspicious photo.

Ahhh, remembering the good old days when Prosper used to pretend to care. Then WHAM! They took down all the PII, eliminated the forum, banned lenders from referring to .org, stopped checking IDs....

Who knows - maybe somebody did.  Then they contacted Prosper and the rest, as they say, is history.

Prosper used to have a bank of "free" photos for borrowers (maybe lenders too) - who knows if these were truly public domain or they bought them.
