Interesting site statistics
« on: January 23, 2010, 11:39:16 pm »

Just found a site comparing site traffic. Here are some interesting statistics for a few P2P sites.

Unless that site's measuring mechanisms broke, Prosper suffered a dramatic downturn in visitors in or around September 2009. On the same scale, it seems our beloved .org is also experiencing a notable year-on-year decline in traffic.

Lendingclub, OTOH, is showing a remarkable increase in every metric.

It seems reasonable that there would be some relationship between traffic to Prosper and traffic to Org.

Looking at the Org site statistics, as provided by Org's on-site stats page, I am not seeing the 65% month-to-month drop (assuming it's comparing Jan 10 to Dec 09).

If the Org stats are off, the other stats may also be suspect - although the query does caution that the sample size for Org is significantly smaller.

The site does not seem to be accurate at all.  I checked my family's business site on it, and the data given was completely out of whack with reality.

All these web statistics sites are hacks, but I think Alexa is much more likely to be meaningful.

yep, these are like the Zillow of internet data.  I've heard some people explain how far off they are and it can be pretty eye-opening.
