Lendingclub spam on my blog
« on: January 26, 2010, 01:43:43 pm »

I don't have much use for my Money Walks blog, but today I got an email notification that someone posted a comment.  See here.  It looks pretty official and not as if it was an affiliate. I'll be deleting it in a short while.

Has any of the other (more popular) bloggers seen similar spam?

Sheesh.  Suggest you file a complaint with Lendingclub.

I haven't seen Lendingclub do this, but I had to turn on moderation on my blog (on blogspot) because people are constantly spamming the comments.  They write a sentence or two saying "That was a great story. Keep up the good work." or something like that, and then follow it with a URL which points to something entirely unrelated.

Hmmm, someone who might prefer to remain anonymous sent me this:

Quote
Aditi = Aditi Raipet, who appears to be managing LC's online referral program.
[/quote[

If this is an LC employee, I'm really disappointed in LC ethics..

Update:  As Things progressed, I first sent a note to Feedback@lendingclub.com, then to someone in the Affiliate section and then a third to an email address supplied to me by the online chat support at LendingClub.  I've now heard back from all three, promising action.

LendingClub in many ways have turned out to be what I was hoping Prosper would have been. My ROI over there is also substantially better than at Prosper. Still, I'm not so sure I want to stick more money into either.

Wait. Let me rephrase that. I'm damned sure I don't want to stick money into Prosper. I'm ambivalent about putting money into LC.

Nominate for de-lobbying.

Is this where arguments, porn pictures, and topics of other concerns are posted until this is moved out of the lobby because all of the posts added to the original are not lobby worthy?

Unlike the SEC-porn thread, this one pertains to Lending Club, which is a relevant topic for .org (which does, after all, have several LC boards).  I think the Lobby is OK for this one.

I look at it the other way...

Had the following been posted outside of the Lobby,
I'm hard-pressed to think the community would have recommended it for the Lobby.

ETA: Relevance isn't the only criteria for a thread to be in the Lobby.
The other criteria is that whole collaboration thing...
