In the same vein as Prosper's claim of 1 million members...

With almost 4,500 members, Prospers.org is the world’s largest independent community for people interested in learning about and understanding peer-to-peer (p2p) finance.

Make that 4,502 since The Joker and I are both quoted in your sig.

Not sure how the count 112233 in the totals; Prospers.Org could be well above 116,000.

I wonder if unverified users are included. IIRC, all a friend needs is an email address.

.. not to sound cynical or anything (ok, maybe a little), but Im willing to bet that some borrowers make up their friends.

If I was marketing for Prosper - I would probably be waiting to build some good return numbers before hitting a big ad campaign. Try to work out the kinks and fix some of the problems.

If they are following this model - I would expect to see a big marketing campaign probably about the new year since it looks to me like many problems have been improved on, including returns and screening!

If I was marketing for Prosper ...
How can they ethically advertise 10.4% returns for lenders?

Or a 0.07% default rate?

@ per day, isnt that only .2555% per year? maybe the rate every 15 minutes? that's about 25%

IIRC ~ 10% 2008, ~12% 2009, ~25% 2010.

To put the 1 million into perspective, I heard a commercial on Sirius XM yesterday, stating that the date-a-cougar web site has already attracted 1 million users.
