No one is saying that.  The leading theory (mine) is that his member page mentioned "Pro$pers.org" and some Prosper employee mistakenly thought that he had added that after Prosper purged the member pages of references to "Prospers.org" (no dollar sign).  Then the employee couldn't find the button to push to insert a reason in the suspension notice, and send it out without a reason.

The thing is, the rest of us weren't suspended for the .org link, we were just warned. It seems Epic missed out on the "warning" batch due to the $ so they banned him instead of the warning. IOW, it makes no sense that he was suspended for something the rest of us were warned for.

Guess they didn't keep a list of who was naughty or nice, ie. list of ppl that received a warning.  They probably thought Epi was repeat offender.  Just my guess on it.

of course prosper knows when someone last updated their profile...and most likely they have every incremental change in a history table.

they also have every warning etc on file about these matters.

this was not an accident.

by the way, they didnt even give the a reason for the suspension in their email to him..what is that all about?

Hell, he didn't even know he'd been banned from .com forums and all his posts deleted until I saw it and posted it here. P-----r ain't real good at that "communications" type stuff.

And like you said, they can tell when someone's changed their profile so if he hasn't changed it in months he was obviously not warned about it when the rest of us were.

I saw that but it was my understanding (and I could be wrong - it happens) that Epic hadn't changed that since he became a verified lender and hadn't gotten a warning. Until I got my warning, I honestly had no recollection that I had put that on my profile. That's all that was on there and it was done whenever I joined this site - quite a long time ago.

Having been wholly inactive on Prosper.com (except for withdrawing money on a regular basis) since they destroyed the original forums and instituted what tries to pass as new forums, and their blog, I received this email, time-stamped as having been created at 5:07 am this morning:

Subject: Your account has been suspended    [ ref:xxxxxxxx.xxxxxxxx:ref ]

Dear [Epictetus],

For future reference, your Prosper support case number is xxxxxxxx.

My Profile has not changed in nearly two years.

There clearly is a Hit List at Prosper.com, and it is almost certainly based on membership in and posting here on Prospers.org.

Prosper management, astonishingly, appears ever and endlessly able to make itself even smaller, meaner, more petty, and desperate than ever it was before, achieving new Personal Worst after new Personal Worst.

How inept and terribly, terribly wasteful they were of my and every other early adopters' tremendous enthusiasm, support and goodwill toward them.

Despite Chris Larsen's repeated claims that Prosper is almost wholly a Web 2 company, Prosper, in reality, is to Web 2 as anti-matter is to matter.

Web 2, my ass.  Prosper is as avaricious and ruthless as any 19th-century company-store business ever was.

Well, I have to say, you probably deserved it.

Prosper employees don't just go looking... someone may have reported it.

The mass deletion of member descriptions containing prospers.org, and the accompanying sending of warnings coming from a computer named "witchel", indicates that a certain someone did take the time to go looking.

Not to mention that those warning emails violated Prosper's own security policies by not including the users' screen name.
