New Collection Agency - Amshare
« on: January 24, 2008, 02:50:32 pm »

Prosper has added a 3rd collection agency: Amshare.

I don't know anything about them, but I have changed my preference to the new agency.  Same reason I have given in the past.  If we don't send some work their way, we'll never learn about them.  Because of the nature of the voting mechanism that determines the agency, a lot of people need to change their preference to get a few loans headed their way 5 to 6 months from now.

I'll change my setting, but it won't really make much of a difference since I'm not bidding anymore anyways.

I thought it didn't really matter who you chose since there's more than one lender on the loan and P-----r USED to say they went with whomever was most popular, but of course, then it became just Penncro, then they picked which ones went to the "new" agency a few months ago.

Do we really have a choice on this?

Which is why if a lot of lenders change to the new agency, they might get a few loans.

I thought that if Prosper sends a loan to a collection agency, it goes to the agency of the lender with the most $$$ on the loan, or as a back up, maybe in case of a tie, I guess it would go to the agency of the group of lenders with the most $$$ on the loan.

Anyway, I'll switch.

Some of prosper's explanations are poorly worded, so it is easy to understand your impression.

They add up lender's votes, weighted by $ in the loan, and the agency with the most $ voting for it wins the loan.

OK, I'll switch. And move some more money out ;)

ETA - I'm showing AmSher, not Amshare. I'm sure it's the same company but has anyone done any looking into this company?

I've switched.  Keep in mind anyone who happens to use standing orders that you need to edit each standing order to use the new selection as well.  Just changing your preference on the lending page only works for manual bids.  Standing orders have their own selection that defaults to whatever you had selected when you created the order and does not change unless you manually edit the standing order.  This goes for people who use the portfolio plans as well I would imagine.
