Maybe Jeff's trusted inside source read my comments earlier in this thread:

Quote
If Prosper were to sell member data for marketing purposes, it's hard to believe that they would include User IDs in the database, or that the buyers would want that data, IMO.  It just doesn't strike me as an industry norm.  This is particularly true, I would think, if the data was filtered through a third party (Experian, as Jeff alleges); I would expect that even if Prosper didn't adhere to list management industry norms, Experian would.

Or maybe I'm really a Prosper insider.   :ninja:  The comment that Jeff attributed to his trusted inside source did sound a lot like something I would say while being snarky.

RateLadder has published an interview with Jeff on his blog.  My favorite part:

However my ‘other’ contact at Prosper.com has told me that they have not sold our data to any third parties, but if they had it would not include any fictitious data or name such as the one we keep there.

In other words, we would never violate our privacy policy and the basic trust of our membership, but, if we did, we'd try to do it without leaving our fingerprints all over the place.

With reassurances like that, it's no wonder Jeff is back in the Prosper fold; I'm starting to feel all warm and fuzzy myself.

Good grief.  That's like Shira saying that they hadn't given any stock options to GLs except a chosen few and conveniently forgetting that BG was a GL.

OMG - perfect!

I couldn't help but think of this thread today when I got a random spam text-message on my phone from a PayDay lending place. I wonder why they associate my number with someone who would need a PDL...the fact that I am a registered borrower on Prosper is purely coincidence, I'm sure.  :ninja:

Sending commercial spam to a cell phone is, IIRC, not legal.  I believe the FCC has an online form to report it - and the offender can be fined.

I wonder how long their 4th blog will last before being deleted.

That's 4 blogs folks..Not 4 blog posts.

Maybe it was this loan:

http://www.prospers.org/forum/photos_that_make_you_bid_or_cry_or_barf-t1139.0.html;msg120675#msg120675

And P-----r had legitimate reason for question it. ;) Doubtful though.

Disclaimer - I have done my last 2 renewals by mail so picture is out of date and my weight is WAY wrong!!

This appears to have been the loan that was withdrawn:

So today I was denied a loan through Zopa.com.

Oh well… So I’ve relisted with Prosper.com as they have graciously looked beyond my driver’s license issue and the paperwork is a done deal.

These people need serious psychiatric help.
