I think, the first guy who claims an 18.7% return was the GL from Cashfunders.   He and his wife were both there.

Yes, the other woman claiming an 8% return is Luana (Mrs.Soupy1).  They spend a lot of time in Hawaii and know Islandmele.  That is why they are in the Ohana group.

The guy with 50,000 invested was on the High ROI panel.  He was laughed at for putting his entire savings into loans.

I spoke briefly at PD08 with the couple that advertised 16.5% on the video.  You want to talk about lenders without a clue...  They were surprised to hear that loans defaulted.  Sorry, don't remember lender names.

And her "video" was taken 3 months ago, so her portfolio was an average of less than a month when they had her spout for the camera??  Oh good grief.

Ummm, shouldn't lenders on the high-ROI panel have a high-ROI?  LS has him at 8.75% (average age 111 days).   :ninja:

And again, this was 3 months ago so the average then was SO much lower.

Was there any borrow on the "Lookie how much I'm making" video with longer than 6 months average at the time the video was taken? Heck, even at 6 months no one's been through a debt sale yet.

If PMI hadn't edited the High ROI video, trust me, everyone would have had a BIG laugh watching this.  LoanChimp and Eric were the only people on that panel that had a clue.

The others were laughed at and the woman on the panel wouldn't even give her screen name since she was worried about borrowers finding out who she was.   ::)

Keep in mind, the new lenders should not make the mistakes we made in the first year. Most of the sour grapes in this forum are not because of the terrible mistakes we made the first year, but Prosper management style.

I lend on Kiva and get absolutely no interest. Out of $5k lent so far, not one default. Unfortunately, there are so many safety nets and escape clauses for Americans, we just don't seem to have the same moral attitude towards debt.

they shouldn't but look around..They still do.

Every month all the way up to October 2007 is at double digit late or default now.

I think Luna is about the only close to what her real rate will be.

I am trying to break even on Prosper.  My first 6-8 months of loans were lousy (to use a nice word since we are in the Lobby, I blame myself for bidding on bad loans as opposed to Prosper originating the loans).   I would like to think that I am now picking better loans.  I mostly reinvest funds, however, yes, PMI has angered me on a number of occassions.  Every so often, I have to decide whether I am angry enough to stop bidding.  I haven't been angry enough to hope to get a little better return.

I will admit that right now the delay of the most recent debt sale has me a bit angry again.  I also am looking at a couple of loans that I like that may give me a 9-10% return (if they pay me back  ;)).  I am a completely "on the fence" lender.

Thanks for catching my typo.  Yeah.  88 days.  She's going to get her butt kicked around a little bit at least.
