Quick scenario.  I want to take out a loan.  I think an endorsement would help.  I call up my friend Chuck, tell him to meet me for beers.  I tell him that I'm taking out a loan, and I'd appreciate his good word on my behalf.  He says, he'd love to, but doesn't have the $50 right now.  I give him $50 and pick up the check for the beers.  Chuck signs up and then lends me the $50 that I gave him.  Did Chuck break the TOS?  Did he accept a kickback of beers?

Here's a better one:

pssssst, I'm Lazy Man and I know where you can get up to $25K cash and never have to repay it... and I'll let you know this information AND give you an endorsement for a piece of it...

call me stupid, but if I was a borrower why should I give you $75 when I can do the same thing myself with someone I know?

Tempting, but I won't call you stupid.  I answered this in the post itself.  If endorsements get better rates then you'd want to get one.  If you can't convince to sign up, put money on the platform, and endorse you, buying an endorsement (from anyone) is easier.
the borrower gets the money from a payday loan store (credit card, or other source) and gives it to a relative/friend/spouse to endorse them with. if borrower knows PII of relative/friend/spouse, then they can just sign them up without the person knowing.

that probably happens already more than you think.

That's the saddest piece of news, I've heard all week.  There's no real way to know if that's how it's happening though.  Similarly there's really no way of knowing if people are Paypalling each other money to buy endorsements either.  As such, I think it might be worth thinking about whether you believe endorsements work as they should.  If you think they do their job, then I can see why you think my post was out of line.

If you think that endorsements can and should be improved, I'm surprised you would be very, very happy with my post today.  I thought we shared a common goal with this post... expose a weakness of Prosper.  I thought the community here would be loving it.

Lazyman, have you had anyone take you up on your offer?  Have you sold your endorsement to anyone yet?

No.  No.  (I haven't checked my inbox in a few minutes while I've been here posting.  Maybe someone has inquired about it.)

Chuck isn't the 2nd highest (total posts) blogger on the official corporate blog.

What does that have to do with anything?  I had an agreement when I post on Prosper's blog to go through their lawyer for content filter.  I also have an agreement saying that I say whatever I want on my own blog.  It's a separate entity.

That is a better scam.  Unfortunately, I see how that directly cheats people out of money.  How would buying an endorsement do so?

Ah, so finally you admit a scam... good start.

I would have read the TOS carefully, and proposed my Chuck scenario to Prosper and ask them what they think of the practice.  Their opinion on the matter would have weighed on whether I would do it or not.  And I would also like to point out the first comment again, "I believe one can argue the borrower who actually does contact you is slightly less risky because they are putting up money ($75) and taking the time to make their loan less risky."  Maybe after I talk to the person, I consider that worthy of a free natural endorsement.

As, I never expected it would get far enough to the point where I could have sold my endorsement.

I think you are a liar.I think your intention was to sell your endorsement & these 6 pages are witness to you slowly changing your story to what it has become now.

I'm glad you aren't able to delete on this website.

The company chooses to list my blog.  I don't control their website.  You might want to spend a few minutes reading my blog before you call it sleazy.  One post trying to improve Prosper's system doesn't make it sleazy.  I didn't see you call this post sleazy - http://www.lazymanandmoney.com/save-money-on-cars/.  Oh wait, I shouldn't actually try to help consumers... that would be really sleazy.

If you cared about consumers your site wouldn't have ads all over it.

I think you are entitled to your position, but the original post on my website remains in tact.  It shows my story there in green and white.
