Compare ROI - Erics/LS/Prosper/XIRR
« on: November 29, 2010, 07:38:30 pm »

Prosper responded to my e-mail request for an ROI today, so I decided to update my Excel spreadsheet for the first time in a year to get an XIRR to compare.

I thought if a few people post their ROIs from the various sources in the same thread, we might get a good sample of the accuracy of each.  For me, both Prosper and lendstats were close; Erics overestimated by more than 100 basis points.

4.09%, $68.84 in active notes - Excel XIRR (subtracted entire principal value of all lates)
3.98%, 891 day avg age - Prosper
5.14%, 1372 day avg age - ericscc.com
3.88%, 35.8 months - lendstats.com

Haven't done XIRR.

Prosper:  .8%
Lendstats: .77%
erics: 4.07%

My loans are done, unless (hahaha) the crack collection team collects on my defaults.  So, this is pretty conclusive.

You have the biggest difference in Lendstats & Prosper scores.  I am very curious as to what XIRR calculates for you.

That is a big difference on the plus side. 312, are you a trader? :)

That's the other thing folks, when it comes to trading 3rd party sites do not have that info.

my ROI's are:
Prosper:   1.13%
Lendstats:1.09%
Erics:      10.07%

it's actually quite a coincidence the lendstats and prosper are so close because I've sold about 10K in loans.

I never did the XIRR either, but it is obviously the best way to determine ROI.

I'm a trader -- i've sold between 1-2k in notes.

My post-quiet-period ROI is:
Prosper: 15.8%
Lendingstats: 13.81%

Another thing to note is that I think Prosper is only counting losses from defaulted notes, not from <120 day late loans. Therefore for post relaunch loans Prosper's ROI should be significantly higher than lendstats' because lendstats estimates losses from loans in all states of DQ.

Prosper: 8.43%
Lendstats: 8.58%
Ericscc: 8.13%
XIRR: 8.93%

I'm one of the rare lenders whose ROI ericscc has consistently underestimated, though it's been getting better as more of my loans pay off.
