Much obliged.  My click and scroll skills were really bad on finding that on my own (NOT LOL!)--so sorry, and thanks for the link.  Hopefully everybody from LC Talk will find or has found their way here.  Wish I'd kept my screen names the same...was "lovinglifestyle" over there.

After this, I'll do my best to post on the proper topic and get out of here where I don't belong. :-*
Thanks again.

Ya, it would be brutal to start up a new SN as lovinglifestyle now, what with all your posts here and how we've all grown to know you as Lightlender  :ninja:

3 days later, another - and I dare say more accurate - Prosper info at the same web site:
http://www.americanbankingnews.com/2009/10/08/peer-to-peer-investing-prosper-com-review/

For once there is more accurate information but I cracked and posted a new comment on that article. I've only made 1 bid (sorry MTN.. I wanted 10%!) on Prosper since I became a Lender but cant help myself. Cant explain it.

New story from American Banking News: Uncovering Prosper.com Investors’ True Return on Investment

Apparently someone has been supplying them with some feedback! Way to go, org!

An interesting snippet from near the end of the article:
Quote
The average rates of return investors are earning on Prosper.com are likely much closer than to what Eric’s Credit Community is reporting than what Prosper.com is publishing. Prosper.com has an incentive to artificially inflate the rates of return that its investors are making and Eric’s Credit Community does not.

Wow... I'm stunned by the opening paragraph!

American Banking News has recently come under fire from members of the “Prospers” peer-to-peer lending community for citing Prosper.com’s statistics about the interest rates that its investors are earning,

I was just used to being ignored by these articles.

*e* cleaned up my sentence

Say something often enough, and people might believe it.  :'(

Prosper's return is an average 7.06 percent, Lending Club's 9.62 percent. But understand that although long-term performance is the best barometer of future results, this is such a new market that long-term results don't exist yet.
from article: Peer-to-peer lending has advantages for both sides.

With about 40% of the earliest loans being delinquent, a ROI of 7.06% sounds high.

And yet another:
$7.2 Million in New Loans Originated by Peer-to-Peer Lending Companies in September

Quote
Prosper.com enjoyed a 44% increase in the amount of loans that it originated, partially due to a significant new online advertising push from the company. Prosper.com is now advertising through Google’s AdWords programs and on many major websites, including Hotmail, to attract new lenders. In total, Prosper originated $1.3 million across 340 new loans, with an average loan size of $3,880. This represents an increase of $395,000 in lending activity from the previous month.

If this were spun any harder, it would fly apart from centrifugal force.   :ninja:  So in other words, Prosper's originations were about one-fifth what they were pre-shutdown (which was itself less than one-third what they needed to be for Prosper to break even).
