Prosper.com investors average 7.06%
« on: October 05, 2009, 09:18:29 am »

The article is How Does Investing with Lending Club Compare to Saving with a High-Yield Savings Account? but does throw in this teaser:

Quote
When considering interest rates, creating a diversified loan portfolio with Lending Club or Prosper will offer a much better rate of return than what one would receive with a high-yield savings account. Currently banks are offering interest rates between 1.30% and 2.30% APY. Lending Club investors have averaged 9.64% APY during the last two and a half years and Prosper.com investors are averaging 7.06% APY.

For such a pretentious-sounding blog, I find it one of the least well-reseached blogs out there - and I suspect the author is another 21-year old shut-in still working on his GED.

Ahh.  The head dude for a group of guys who have proven themselves to be not very bright.

And he twitters.  Probably has lots of time to talk about what he doesn't know.

Although there’s going to be a percentage of borrowers that do not repay their loan, somewhere in the 1-5% range, overall it can still be much more lucrative to loan to individuals through these peer to peer lending institutions than it is to put your money into a bank.

Whats the problem?  I am sure we can find two Prosper Investors that have an average ROI of 7.06%.

For example

mtpowerlender with an Erics's ROI of 23.04%
http://www.ericscc.com/lenders/mtpowerlender

1buckchuck with an Erics's ROI of -8.92%
http://www.ericscc.com/lenders/1buckchuck

You don't possibly think they could have meant all Prosper Inverstors are experiencing that kind of rate - do you?    :o ??? :o

By lending small amounts of money to large numbers of people, your interest rate is wholly dependent upon people repaying their loans.

This used to be true with Prosper, but new loans are loans to Prosper.Com so all your borrowers could pay on time every time and if Prosper goes out of business for one reason or another, you lose.

Does anybody here know what happened to lendingclubtalk.com?  It's been down for 10 days (or so), had some good folio discussions and other info.

Prosper's speed on money transfers seems to me to be slowing even more.  Maybe the transfers occur but the site's reporting system is overworked.  Doesn't bother me much any more---got used to watching and waiting---sort of.

Much obliged.  My click and scroll skills were really bad on finding that on my own (NOT LOL!)--so sorry, and thanks for the link.  Hopefully everybody from LC Talk will find or has found their way here.  Wish I'd kept my screen names the same...was "lovinglifestyle" over there.

After this, I'll do my best to post on the proper topic and get out of here where I don't belong. :-*
Thanks again.

Ya, it would be brutal to start up a new SN as lovinglifestyle now, what with all your posts here and how we've all grown to know you as Lightlender  :ninja:
