Prosper.com Loan Originations - May 2010
« on: May 24, 2010, 01:39:13 pm »

Since we don't have access to reliable data from Prosper or the third parties, I figured I would manually scour the SEC filings for the Sales data (not the listing data).

To the extent others would like to help manually collect this info, please feel free - and I will update this post with data as it becomes available to me.  With a little bit of work, we should be able to continue to measure pertinent funding activity.

http://sec.gov/cgi-bin/browse-edgar?company=prosper+marketplace&match=&CIK=&filenum=&State=&Country=&SIC=&owner=exclude&Find=Find+Companies&NONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONONOaction=getcompany

Can't guarantee that this data is 100% accurate.

Filing Date      Number of Loans   $ Funded

May 3             42                     $179,025 (Revised)
May 4             12                     $ 28,575
May 5             19                     $ 67,800
May 6             21                     $ 90,899
May 7             25                     $102,200
May 10           20                     $ 90,600
May 11           16                     $ 58,350
May 12           16                     $ 54,450
May 13           13                     $ 53,800
May 14           20                     $ 85,150
May 17           24                     $ 88,900
May 18           16                     $ 71,200
May 19           20                     $ 87,500
May 20           19                     $ 73,100
May 21           18                     $ 71,050
May 24           17                     $ 85,576
May 25           19                     $ 92,310
May 26           31                     $139,800
May 27           40                     $140,300
May 28           28                     $120,500

Total originations for May 2010: $1,781,085 (should be viewed as approximate)

These numbers are still subject to verification - and I'd love some peer-review.

This must be a dumb question, but do you mean that the Data Export on Prosper is not accurate?  ??? Can you elaborate or maybe point me to other posts? Sorry I'm new here.

Also, specifically look at KenL's post towards the bottom of that thread.

Wow!  Above and beyond the call of duty.

That's what I was thinking.  Urbi, truly amazing and thank you.

Looks like there were only two days that funded over $100k in loans.  Yowch.

Thanks, guys.

The original post has been updated to include originations for 5/25.

Monthly originations to date: $1,380,485

Observations from looking at every single loan originating this month:

- I am struck by the number of borrowers who are multi-loan borrowers
- There's an interesting new lender on the scene: julian_rojas72

He's taking positions on highly rated loans offering abnormally high interest rates.

For those wondering...by manually pulling together loan origination data, I have been able to basically conclude/validate that LendStats.com is still providing accurate origination numbers.

For a while, my confidence was lowered when 1) I had no way to compare to Prosper's own data, and 2) the origination data looked too poor to be true.

Interesting - seems the credit grade on Eric's doesn't jive with the credit grade on Prosper for the loans he's financed. They also seem military related.

Classic comment from Urbi to a poster who said they were leaving:

"Once again, we note that your threats are hollow and you come across like a sad, lonely blowhard.

I doubt anyone here gives a shit about you.  We pretty much all know that you are a vile and unethical parasite of a human being with an abnormal craving for attention."
