Earning great returns

What a dumb ass question.  It makes the assumption that great returns are likely.

They're probably hoping this survey will give them some numbers to use in a future press release.

"X% of respondents (from their facebook page, no less) said their favorite thing about Prosper was earning great returns."

It will be a technically accurate statement, but the methodology, like most of what Prosper's marketing department does, will be flawed.

I gave that suggestion, though I doubt it will be taken seriously by the top management unless imposed upon them from the  venture capitalists that had sunk their money into Prosper.

Indeed, it is obvious that this survey was not designed to collect useful data from their customers. The sad thing is, they could have gotten something that would have accomplished the same result under much better disquise had they spent more than 5 minutes on the task.

What would have been some examples of more productive questions?

There is one useful question: "How likely are you to refer Prosper to a friend?" Not very likely.

JGuide, if they were seriously looking for input, instead of for stroking, they could have asked:

1.  How satisfied have you been with your returns? 

2.  How satisfied have you been with collections?

3.  How satisfied have you been with transparency?

There are all kinds of things that may have improved which would be fair game to ask about.  Prosper's phraseology makes clear they don't want anything but stroking.
