Hello
« on: April 25, 2011, 02:37:27 pm »

New to this site, but not to peer lending - just wanted to say hi.  My screenname on prosper is seanambrose (he was the villain in Mission Impossible 2.  The movie was playing when I first registered).

So far, I've had nothing but positive experiences with Prosper and Lending Club personally, but I do find this forum to be interesting.

Then you may be in the wrong place   ;D

But seriously, even Prosper lovers have a place here.

I wouldn't call myself a Prosper lover. I have a hard time loving a corporation, but I am a happy Prosper and LendingClub investor... so far. And this site does have something for everyone. Haters and Lovers. Lots of good general finance advice here too.

Here are two of his loans that will go default rather quickly:
https://www.prosper.com/invest/listing.aspx?listingID=494202
https://www.prosper.com/invest/listing.aspx?listingID=493262

But the first one has a 14% rate of return! Not a 100% rate of loss :-)

Good eye P11,
I give the first one a 50% chance of defaulting. (I know, that's the equivalent of saying nothing)
The second one I say has a 65% chance of defaulting. Wait, make that a 80% chance, I just read the description and the Q & A.

This one also looks pretty risky

Read the description.

I don't know Ken. Apart from that one line in the description about bankruptcy I would say this is a good loan. I notice RR is in for $900. If I invested in A grade loans I probably would have been in as well.

But the number of DQ's doesn't seem to hit ROI as much as you would think. One of the loans mentioned has 3 current DQ'a and 13 in the last 7 years. But according to Lendstats that combo would have given you a 10.91% post SEC registration ROI. Go figure....but pre SEC ROI of -10.14% (yikes).

The listing is great until you read the description. Anyone who says they are having trouble paying off debt from a failed business seems high risk to me. The 10% return on that one is definitely not worth the risk.

Yeah I agree delinquencies aren't such a big deal, as long as they are now current. But combined with other factors like high debt, business loan (for payroll!!!!!), and the absence of the DTI, this loan is a risk I would not take.

Wow!

It's amazing how quickly the AntiProsperBitchFest set in on this person coming forth and saying hello.

Um, where is this supposed "AntiProsperBitchFest"?  No one really even said anything about Prosper.

Nominate for Lobby.

Is that a joke?  There is nothing even remotely Lobby worthy about this thread.

Hey. A similar introduction on the old forums convinced me to sit down, read, and listen. Otherwise I would be way further in the hole.
