I don't know, I tend to think more optimistically than many here on this point.

I do think Chris Larsen prefers startups.  I think he likes the challenge of trying something new and different, pushing the limits.  I don't think he likes the daily grind of continuing something already established.  However we might feel about Prosper, it is no longer a new startup.

I wouldn't be surprised if soon he's head of some different startup, testing new waters.
I've always thought Chris Larsen was a dreamer.  And I think the world needs some dreamers who are out there doing some dreaming.

As there are fewer and fewer folks remaining who are responsible for making Prosper v1 what it is/was, to whom are we expected to direct our ire?   ;D

Perhaps the members of the board finally got around to reading through Fred's blog, including the recommendation he offered at the very end of this excellent summary post?

According to the company's 8-K filing yesterday, Prosper will begin a search for a permanent replacement.

Baseed on NewHorizon's quote above, Larsen seems to feel that person is Lepore, but I guess others wanted to first poke around for someone else.

There are several people named Dawn Lepore who appear to be fairly close in age.  It seems like it would be a rare name, but there's a bunch of them.

Search result for "Dawn Lepore Schwab"

'Ours' is a Dawn G. Lepore who is "56 Years Old" - "Dawn G. Lepore has served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of drugstore.com since October 2004... Ms. Lepore served... Charles Schwab Corporation... joined Schwab in 1983."

Her compensation from other sources is also reported by Forbes

Indeed.

Prosper could have done worse -- she operated a reasonably successful retail business and has some financial (and financial retailing) experience. Would prefer someone who understands risk and performance issues, but her background at least has some operations (and operational problem-solving) experience, not just dreaming up and selling new concepts.
