That's a major development.  Nominate for lobby.

Second.

Edit: But it should be noted that he only stepped down as CEO. He is still Chairman of the Board.

I note that the replacement is described as "interim CEO."

Larsen should have been fired years ago.

There are several people named Dawn Lepore who appear to be fairly close in age.  It seems like it would be a rare name, but there's a bunch of them.

Big news!

She seems well-qualified, hopefully she'll be an improvement.

I wonder if this has any relationship with the fact that the lawsuit against Prosper has been officially certified by the courts as a Class Action?

I really doubt it.  There was little doubt that the class would be certified -- it really was a no-brainer.

Prosper kept saying that anything to do with the lawsuit was unlikely in their regulatory filings with the SEC.

Quote
[Larsen] said that he was more of a startup guy and now that Prosper had reached almost 70 people it needed someone with a different skill set, someone that could really take it to the next level.

He said he was very happy with where Prosper is at. They have a lot of cash on the balance sheet. a strong growth trajectory and everything is in place for them to continue this rapid growth. They were in a good position to hire an experienced CEO that could drive Prosper forward to ten times and a hundred times the volume they are doing now. He feels that Lepore is the right person to do that.

I don't know, I tend to think more optimistically than many here on this point.

I do think Chris Larsen prefers startups.  I think he likes the challenge of trying something new and different, pushing the limits.  I don't think he likes the daily grind of continuing something already established.  However we might feel about Prosper, it is no longer a new startup.

I wouldn't be surprised if soon he's head of some different startup, testing new waters.
I've always thought Chris Larsen was a dreamer.  And I think the world needs some dreamers who are out there doing some dreaming.
