I signed up and was off. I found the official forums in June and after that I was hooked. I attended the Atlanta M&G in Oct 2006, Prosper Days in Feb 2007, and numerous get togethers of a handful of prosper members.
I was one of the 10 people banned on
Black Friday. After that, I started a satirical group that made fun of the largest groups at the time. Funny thing, people started to get some loans through my group, and since they were all forumers, their rates went very low and their repayment as been 100% (to date). Thus, my satirical group thus became exactly what groups were supposed to be, person-to-person lending. We had a shared bond and the repayment and interest rates reflect that.
A couple of weeks ago, I again shifted my group to become The .Org. I did this because Prosper had turned away from the group model, thus there was no point in making fun of the large groups. So, after Prosper got rid of their old forum and replaced it with their current "forum" (really more of a crappy customer service center), I re-Christened my group The .Org and directed people here.
That earned me a permanent suspension from Prosper.com.
My pug,
Elwood, became a minor celebrity in the forums, and it was learned we had quite a few pug people here, including mtnchick, rateladder, pioneer11 and others.
What is your experience in P2P lending?I planned on putting $100 a month into Prosper and reinvesting repayments forever. I stopped new money in around July 2007 and began withdrawing down to half my initial investment in August. Then I was banned forever and all I can do is withdraw, so that's what I'm doing.
How did you end up at Prospers.org?I visited prosperlenders.com which morphed over here to prospers.org. I've been actively trying to bring in new members here since Black Friday.
Where to do you live? Originally from South Chicagoland, I currently live right outside Atlanta.
What do you do? Besides hang out on these forums? Play with my newborn son, watch movies, nothing too interesting. I'm an accountant by trade.
