You're on the right track.  I think we used the pizza place next door in the photo of his storefront to help identify him and/or attempt to verify his story.

The Tractor parts store (if it ever really existed) fell apart within months and Michelle claimed they split up at the same time.

I read through some of their old threads on ProsperReport today.  Those two were quite the couple.
