Where Either a Borrower Or a Lender Can Be
« on: April 21, 2008, 11:41:49 am »

My Google Alerts is still finding articles on Prosper, this one in The Wall Street Journal:

Where Either a Borrower
Or a Lender Can Be

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB120526439925827991.html?mod=WSJBlog

So Prosper is still getting mentioned in the news.

Why wouldn't Prosper still be getting articles? There are still borrowers, and yes, lenders being helped and/or making a profit from Prosper.

Well, used to be a long time ago "news" was "new".

I doubt anyone here gives a shit about you.  We pretty much all know that you are a vile and unethical parasite of a human being with an abnormal craving for attention."

True, but while Prosper is "old hat" to us embittered pioneers, I would be willing to bet the majority of America has never heard of Prosper or P2P lending.

I'd be willing to bet that 90% of lenders on PMI who have ever visited prospers.org no longer lend.

probably because p2p is not a good idea, nor a necessity for people who live in a country with a modern banking system. P2p MIGHT be good for borrowers with no other options.

In the United States, borrowers who have "no other options" have usually screwed up all their other options.

I have a pair of Google Alerts for news articles on "prosper.com" and "Prosper Marketplace", but for the past few weeks it seemed that most of the alerts were on a couple of old AP stories that various news outlets have picked up for filler.

It seemed that new stories were running pretty thin.

Yes, there are borrowers and there are likely to be no end of borrowers.

Yes, there are lenders, but it remains to be seen if there are enough lenders making enough of a profit to draw more lenders fast enough to stimulate growth of Prosper Marketplace, Inc. Prosper still hasn't matched its peak originations of one year ago, and that is still far below what Prosper needs for profitability.

I am sure your wager would be a month off from .org right?
