Repurchased loans - the list
« on: May 09, 2008, 12:56:05 pm »

I posted in my blog about this but I figured I'd create a thread here about it as well.

http://www.prospers.org/wiki/Repurchases

In summary:
124 loans are marked as "repurchased" by Prosper.
---
10 loans taken out by Victoria Crawford
66 loans in the New Agency Test
48 other loans (some or all may have been fraud of some sort)

Listing #75713 made 5 perfect (on time and in full) payments and then abruptly stopped.

Repurchase dates are before the origination dates.  Maybe the year should be 2008 and not 2006?

I chose not to add notes like this to the NAT loans since those were really only defaults that Prosper has chosen to handle differently.  I know some in that list made 0 payments, some made a few other payments after going late, etc.  In the top list, "typical repurchased loans", I included information like this since I figured it was interesting that Prosper repurchased some of them after 5-6 payments.  To me, borrowers who stop paying after 5-6 payments seem more real, not cases of ID theft, but what do I know?

Either way, it's a wiki so anyone else can add it if they think it's useful.

Is there an easy way for an individual lender to see which loans they are on? Please do not send how stupid is MsAva remarks. We know what some of you think. Either answer, help or ignore this post.

Thanks in advance.

Ms Ava, I don't see an easy way. It seems you have to look at eachlisting, or compare a list of your loans to the list of repurchased loans one at a time.

In Prosper's loan listing page, in the dropdown beside Loan Status there is an option of 'Repurchased'.  Does this not give you what you want?

Ms Ava I would be happy to help you but I'm not sure I understand your question? Can you restate your question?

Great job, Z -- thanks!

So in the last five months, Prosper has only repurchased TWO lousy loans (not counting the NAT loans).  Yeah, right there is a 100% ID-theft guarantee.  >:(  Here is Prosper's crack fraud detection team:

Wow, just wow!  Thanks for the help. Looking at all those people I trusted and tried to help, really puts P2P lending in a different perspective.

Still can't figure out why I'm such an eternal optimist. I still believe there remains a future in P2P lending. However, I now know there are some people doomed to fail. Why does Kiva work? How do we rekindle ethics and a sense of shame in American people?

I've got a 3-month late loan showing no collections status.  (listing 122603 at LS).

It's not listed on the OP's Repurchases page.

What does this mean?  Is it a NAT loan in a California county that hasn't been checked yet?

More than likely it means that the borrower sent a C&D letter to AmSher, which shuts off third-party collections activities.

Keep in mind that the "repurchased" list mentioned above is one where Prosper has refunded the principal back to the original lenders, or, in the case of the NAT loans, simply paid lenders a default sale price for those who "opted out" of the NAT.  It has nothing to do with any loans still "active" or in some stage of lateness.
