Really, that's all.  I appreciate my lenders, enjoy hanging out with you troublemakers and am disappointed in PMI.

We are sending out "She's a deadbeat!" letters to all your snooty Catholic HS friends, so keep up the good work (I still remember over on .com when it took me months of "talking" with you before I even realized I was on your loan......doh)

So, I just realized I missed my 2 year Prosper Anniversary (May 23rd).  Prosper didn't even send me an email!

Wow, 2 years ago at this time I had just made my 2nd loan.

My first was 6/9/06, a D @ 22%.  I decided to balance it out and lower my risk by hitting an AA @ 10.25% that became a loan today.  I should have stopped while I was ahead.  My first loan PIF around 16 months (after one span of about 2 months with no payments).

My second loan is still current and has a single dagger on its 24th payment.  I still haven't broken even on it yet, as it has $18.42 of principle remaining and I've only received $6.95 of interest less fees.  If it defaulted today I'd still lose $11.50.

2 years down, 2.5 years to go.

Congrats on both your anniversaries!  :)  It has been great having you here.

Prosper needs to realize that trying to shut people up does nothing but make them talk louder. Of course, this is a lesson they should have been learning since Black Friday and they still haven't figured it out.

Both loans PAID IN FULL.  Told ya.  :)  Thanks lenders!

Today, June 13, is my two year anniversary of my first loan.

So far, my $12,800 investment is worth about $12,000-  a (3.8 )% IRR

I looked at my first 10 loans from June ,2006, today
$950 of loans
2 B's
4 E's
4 HR's
2 paid
1 payoff in progress
2 current
4  4+ late
1 1 month late (and staying at that "lateness")
average return  (9.1)%  (giving this particular 1 month late an 85% value)

Cyber-acquaintances-  Priceless

It's been 2 years since I applied for Prosper lending and went through the old rigamorale with Charles (remember him, the somewhat slow but friendly gentleman with a speech impediment?)

It then took 3 weeks and a bunch of faxes for them to finally approve me...

So my first actual loan wasn't until August... My first forum post was in June-- a rant about why I didn't think Prosper would work... I got flamed for it big time, in moments (I kinda deserved it  ;D ), but time has shown that most of my concerns were prescient...

That was a whole different world than this .org limbo...  Lenders were nice to each other, they met up frequently, they helped each other, they were intelligent and polite on the forums...

And Prosper seemed exciting then, it felt like it was worth spending time on...  Discovery was fun, even when it meant discovering loans were going bad...  The controversies over lending strategies (I refused to lend lower than "D", which was termed 'provocative' at the time...), the advice that was intelligent and flowed freely...  In those days, the forum was an education...

2 years...

And it seems like a very remote memory to me now...

Ah yes, the good old days.  I don't even look at listings anymore.  I check in at .com every now and then to check the status of my loans and transfer out the few dollars in my account.

For me, it seems like yesterday that I signed up and started lending.
