It's been 2 years since I applied for Prosper lending and went through the old rigamorale with Charles (remember him, the somewhat slow but friendly gentleman with a speech impediment?)
It then took 3 weeks and a bunch of faxes for them to finally approve me...
So my first actual loan wasn't until August... My first forum post was in June-- a rant about why I didn't think Prosper would work... I got flamed for it big time, in moments (I kinda deserved it

), but time has shown that most of my concerns were prescient...
That was a whole different world than this .org limbo... Lenders were nice to each other, they met up frequently, they helped each other, they were intelligent and polite on the forums...
And Prosper seemed exciting then, it felt like it was worth spending time on... Discovery was fun, even when it meant discovering loans were going bad... The controversies over lending strategies (I refused to lend lower than "D", which was termed 'provocative' at the time...), the advice that was intelligent and flowed freely... In those days, the forum was an education...
2 years...
And it seems like a very remote memory to me now...
