Since you have bumped this, has any suit been filed?

Not yet, but its coming.

What's pathetic is that the people who are condemning it are the same people who will end up benefiting if it becomes a class action suit.

It's funny that it seems to be the blenders who always come to P-----r's defense.  ::)

I doubt anyone here gives a shit about you.  We pretty much all know that you are a vile and unethical parasite of a human being with an abnormal craving for attention."

I used to be rather ambivalent about this possibility. Part of me wanted to avoid the distraction and legal expense to P------ long enough for the loans I made to mature and me to rid myself of this place.

Then, P------'s testimony in the Gaerke case hit. My ambivalency faded extremely quickly.

Class action lawsuits only punish the Defendants and enrich the lawyers.  The never benefit the people filing the suit.   :P

Even if we somehow got Prosper shut down, think of all the people we would save from losing their money.

Lender financial IQ test?  I think Prosper would have much better results if the Lenders had some more pre-Lending training.  Of course, that would be giving Lenders investment advice, and likely frowned upon.

If Prosper shut down tomorrow, I would not cry. However, it would be irrational(and loud) Lenders, not deadbeat Borrowers, who kill it.

Gog, why do you think lenders are noisy?  Try deadbeat borrowers, and crap collections.  If we were making money, I suspect many of us would be quietly - and happily - still lending.

I was going to post a long and witty response.  However, i think I will compose a longer, and more witty response and start a new thread.  Since my response goes more to Prosper's fundamental model.

I'll post it soon(ish).  Or at least 2-3 gins later.

I think Prosper would have much better results if the Lenders had some more pre-Lending training.

Back when the official forums were hosted by SpreeBB and there was the "Petri Dish" forum for making suggestions and letting them "breed", I had made two suggestions related to this:
1. Have some sort of pre-lending training on confidentiality of personally identifiable information, and
2. Have some sort of training on how to use the tools that Prosper makes available, such as interpreting the "additional credit data" and how that reflects on risk of lending to those with those types of numbers.

Of course, Prosper eventually deleted those old forums and tried to have the archive of those forums deleted. Anyone see any educational material from Prosper? The most definitive thing I have seen was one lender in one of the Prosper Days videos recommend that we try our assumptions on the Performance page.

If I had a dollar for every minute I/others spent adding something to the Petri Dish that PMI ignored...

Did you forget that Shira and Karen DID several lender training seminars early on?

That is where they taught us how to price loans based on the Experian default stats.

In my naivete of believing in there being some rights and wrongs in my life, I am quite willing to contribute to enriching an attorney, in exchange for gloating at the punishment of certain defendants.

Interesting - I've seen quite a few businesses have to change their business practices after a class action suit. Do the lawyers make money? Yes - they're working. Do the plaintiffs make money? Usually not. But do the business practices get changed? Yep. Especially when what they are doing is deemed illegal.
