Of all the stupid shit I did on Prosper (the gag-listings, especially)...I never did get suspended. I wonder why... ???

I dunno -- the low fee doesn't seem to be worth the whole "have your financial life on file at the SEC forever" part of getting a loan through Prosper these days...

... It doesn't have to be YOUR financial life.  Prosper says they seldom check up on identity.   :ninja:

I don't think the information on the second is a personal privacy concern unless you are an idiot and reveal personal information in your loan listing.

Its fairly difficult to search out the true identities of deadbeats anymore.  If we could find out who they are I strongly suspect that prosper would be stuck with quite a few more claims of not living up to their identity theft guaruntee.

You know, that's probably a big part of the reason why I didn't make any money on Prosper. Silly me, thinking people with good credit histories were either usually honest with their money or at least disciplined enough to pay their bills. I guess I had implicitly assumed (or explicitly assumed, thanks to a certain "100% Identity Theft Guarantee") that 1) Prosper wanted to stay in business,  and 2) because Prosper wanted to stay in business, it would at the very least verify that people were who they claimed to be.

I simply cannot fathom how any lending would ever work successfully without the lender knowing basic identity information...
