Prosper's fees for a $1K AA loan is only $5?
I just checked...that's how it looks.
Maybe it's time for me to get another loan
I dunno -- the low fee doesn't seem to be worth the whole "have your financial life on file at the SEC forever" part of getting a loan through Prosper these days...
... It doesn't have to be YOUR financial life. Prosper says they seldom check up on identity.
You know, that's probably a big part of the reason why I didn't make any money on Prosper. Silly me, thinking people with good credit histories were either usually honest with their money or at least disciplined enough to pay their bills. I guess I had implicitly assumed (or explicitly assumed, thanks to a certain "100% Identity Theft Guarantee") that 1) Prosper wanted to stay in business, and 2) because Prosper wanted to stay in business, it would at the very least verify that people were who they claimed to be.
I simply cannot fathom how any lending would ever work successfully without the lender knowing basic identity information...
